Macedon, Koinon of Macedon. Pseudo-autonomous issue. 3rd century A.D. ® (24 mm, 10.40 g, 6 h). Time of Gordian III, ca. A.D. 238-244. [AΛEΞANΔP]OV (OV ligate), diademed head of Alexander the Great right, gazing upward / KOINON M[AKEΔONΩN]..., Alexander standing right, chlamys billowing out behind him, taming Bucephalas rearing left. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 1358; cf. AMNG III p. 103, 368; cf. BMC 108. Nearly VF, black-green patina with concretions.
