Modern sterling silver necklace set with a Roman denarius of Septimius Severus. Chain length: approximately 20 inches. The reverse of the coin depicts Victory. Artist: Susan Welsh of Classical Creations.

About the Artist

Susan Welsh has always been interested in art. She has visited most of the major European art museums, and has served as a Docent at the Los Angeles Museum of Art. After coming to the Santa Barbara area, internationally famous for its artists and skilled artisans, she pursued an intensive study of jewelry making under Janice Lorber and goldsmith Brian Meeks, later specializing in fine enamel work under Margot Neiderer.

SusanÕs creations have appeared in nationwide competitions, galleries and art shows, and are sought after by collectors. She particularly enjoys creating fine art enamels interpreting coins, paintings and sculptures, and is noted for her ability to capture fine detail in this difficult medium.
