Obverse: the wounded consul Lucius Aemillius Paullus is offered a horse by a tribune during the battle of Cannae. GRANDEUR D'AME DE PAUL EMILE (=the magnamity of L. Aemillius Paullus), dated AR 536 (=218 B.C.). Reverse: Gaius Terentius Varro is thanked by the Senate before the city walls of Rome. SAGESSE DU SENAT (= the wisdom of the Senate), dated AR 538 (=216 B.C.). Choice UNC. Lightly toned.
