Description

Date: 344-336 BC

Obverse: Laureate head of Zeus Eleutherios right, with short hair
Reverse: Thunderbolt, eagle standing right in right field

Attribution: Calciati II 6 type

Grade: Very Fine

Weight: 6.29 grs.

Measure: 23.54 mm.

Notes:
A very interesting and possibly unique issue. This is a hemidrachm struck on a hexas flan. This issue is normally struck as a hemidrachm on a flan in the 15 gram range. This example features the standard hemidrachm die being used to strike on a previously minted Hexas flan giving it a very tight appearance. A strong under-type can be seen on the reverse from the previously minted Hexas.
