2nd century B.C. AR karshapana (14.5 mm, 3.11 g). Five punches, including a human figure holding a water pot and staff / Caduceus symbol. Gupta & Hardaker, Punchmarked Coinage of the Indian Subcontinent, Series VIb, no. 566. An attractive specimen with bold punches. Very fine.

This is considered to be the earliest depiction of Lord Shiva, in his Mahakal form.
