Description
Bhavadata. 100 B.C. Æ coin (16 mm, 6.56 g). Brahmi legend (Bha)vatadasa in centre, with Goddess Lakshmi standing below right; miscellaneous symbols above / Traces of elephant. MIG 993a; HGC 12, 897. Bhavadatta's coins are different from all other Mathura rulers: his legend is in a straight line in the centre of the coin, not around the top margin as seen on all other rulers. Extremely rare. Fine.
In the Mathura series, the coins of the Datta rulers are much rarer than the Mitras. No specimen of Bhavadatta has been sold by CNG or VCoins so far.
