Description
12th century Billon gadhaiya paisa (14 mm, 4.18 g). Degenerate Indo-Sasanian bust right / Battle scene showing horseman trampling one victim underfoot, with the victim's sword lying below him; the horseman brandishes his sword at another victim to right. Deyell 167, MNI 649-652. A very unusual coin type that depicts a battle scene. Choice. Very fine.
It is attributed to the Silaharas of the Konkan, though Maheshwari assigns it to the Paramaras and suggests it was issued to celebrate their recovery of Malwa in c. 1190.
