Description
An attractive group of three Egyptian terracottas heads, Graeco-Roman. The first depicts a kanephoros or woman celebrant, Roman, 1st - 2nd Century AD, her arms raised to support a basket containing pine cones and a cobra. H: 3 ½” (8.9 cm). Cf. Bailey (2008), p. 62, no. 3167 for identical type; the other two are molded heads of Harpokrates, Ptolemaic, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, one with short headdress and rounded features, H: 2 3/8” (6 cm), the other depicts the god wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt and large rolled diadem, finger pressed to his lips. H: 2 5/8” (6.7 cm). Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value Range $350 - $450.
