SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur II (309-379 AD). PB (Lead) Unit (3.82 gm; 18 mm). Shapur's crowned bust turning right, symbol similar to Cypress tree with a dot below it, reverse; fire altar with attendants. Cypress tree has always been sacred to Zoroastrian religion, the Cypress of Abarkooh also known as Zoroastrian Sarv in Iran is a place of annual pilgrimage for Zoroastrians since the folk legend considers this location the birth place of prophet Zoroaster. Choice VF. Original find patina. Extremely rare.
