SICILY; Syracuse. 475-470 BC. AR Tetrdrachm (17.12 gm; 24 mm). ANACS-EF 45. Charioteer driving quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses / Diademed head of Arethusa right; four dolphins swimming clockwise around. Boehringer 328(obv.162/rev. 229)- citing 13 specimens from this die combination including SNG ANS 105; Cambridge (Grose/McClean ) 2617 and pl. 91,2 and BMC (Sicily) p. 151.43. Wonderful strike in high relief. Great metal. Fully centered. Choice Superb EF. Lovely example of this type. Nice original patina. ANACS-EF 45. Certificate # 7141035.
