Description
ATTICA, Athens. Circa 440-404 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.04 gm; 24 mm). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet. Rev. Owl, with closed wings, standing right with head facing; in upper left field, olive sprig and crescent moon; all within incuse square. Svoronos pl. 12, 4-9; Star group V.B and pl. XVIII, 181. Couple of test cuts on reverse. Very interesting "Owl" countermark. Good metal. Choice VF.
