Description
KINGS of BAKTRIA. Menander I. ca. 165/55-130 BC. AR Drachm (2.50 gm; 16 mm). Diademed, draped bust of Menander I right, wearing crested Boeotian helmet adorned with aegis / Karosthi inscription, Athena, viewed from behind, advancing left, brandishing thunderbolt in raised right hand and holding shield on left arm, monogram to left. Bopearachchi Series 16, I. SNG ANS 879-892. Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Fully lustrous. Great example for the issue.
