SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur II. AD. 309-379. AR Obol (0.68 gm; 12 mm). Obverse; Shapur II figure turning right, three dots and circle below it in front of face. Reverse, standard issue with fire altar and attendants. The circle being symbol of continuity and balance under the 3 dots most likely representing the 3 scared elements of Zoroastrian religion, good thoughts, good words, good deeds. Wonderful strike. Choice Superb EF. Nice old-cabinet toning. Extremely rare.
