HADRIAN. 117-138 AD. AR Cistophoric Tetradrachm (27mm - 10.56 g). Nicomedia mint. Struck after 128 AD. IMP CAES TRA HADRIANO AVG P P, laureate and draped bust right, seen from behind / COM-BIT across field, Hadrian, holding patera and spear, standing left within tetrastyle temple, clipeus in pediment, frieze inscribed ROM S P AVG. Cf. RIC II 459c; cf. Metcalf, Cistophori, type B8 (for rev. type); cf. BMCRE 1097 and note; cf. RSC 243. Nice VF, lightly toned,, well centered and attractive. Apparently unique.
