SASANIAN KINGS. Hormizd V or VI. 631-632 AD. AR Drachm (4.06 gm; 32 mm). NYHC mint, year 2. Bust right, wearing mural crown with frontal crescent, two wings, and star set on crescent; ribbon on left shoulder, crescent and ribbon on right; stars flanking crown; star-increscents in margin / Fire altar with ribbons; flanked by two attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; star-in-crescents in margin. Standard for the type with the name of “AHURMZADI”(Hormizd). Mochiri reads the mint as VISP (Vsp Sat Khusrow-suburb of Ctesphon): year 2. Mochiri 929; Saeedi 305; Gobl 230; Sunrise 1008. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice EF with some minor natural deposit. Rare.
