ACHAEMENID EMPIRE. temp. Xerxes II to Artaxerxes II. Circa 420-375 BC. AV Daric (8.42 gm; 16 mm). Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes mint. Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance right, holding spear and bow / Incuse punch. Carradice Type IIIb, Group C (pl. XIV, 42); cf. Meadows, Administration 323; BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 12; Sunrise 28. From the Gasvoda Collection. Ex Hunter Collection (Goldberg 72, 5 February 2013), lot 4093. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice Superb.
