Description
SASANIAN KINGS. Shahpur II. AD. 309-372. AR Obol (0.48 gm; 14 mm). Obverse portrait with dot in front of face and triple dot on the shoulder with reverse of fire altar only - no year no mint- Bust right on floral ornament, wearing mural crown with korymbos set on crescent and inner ribbon / Fire altar. Cf. SNS type Ib1/2b (pl. 72, 21; Göbl type I/1; Paruck 340; Sunrise 935var. (totally different reverse). Some chipping around the edge. Original find patina. Extremely rare. Not in Sunrise.
