SASANIAN KINGS. Ardashir I. AD 224-241. AR drachm (4.28 gm; 25 mm). Mint B ("Ekbatana"). Diademed bust of Ardashir I right, wearing close-fitting headdress lacking earflaps and with korymbos. Reverse Fire altar with diadems; no attendants Cf. Alram, Beginning, fig. 22; Göbl III/2/2; Alram 673. Lovely style. Sharply struck on a nice broad flan. Reverse slightly double struck. Choice EF. Toned.
