Description

An exceptional Zapotec head fragment from Monte Alban, Mexico, c. 100 BC – 200 AD. This superb example is 2-3/8” high and depicts a bat deity, identified by its two long teeth. He is wearing an ornate headdress, which incorporates a pair of serpents with a jaguar head. Inscribed with find site and mounted. Ex Elliott Bernstein. Value range: $125 - $200
