Description
A choice Chimu griton (Screamer) effigy from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. It is 7” long and depicts a muca draped over the top of the chamber. The head is nicely detailed and tilted to the skies in an eternal plea for rain. The body is molded in high relief, with part of the tail forming a small loop handle. In excellent condition, with extensive mineral deposits. Ex Pachenko collection. Value range: $400 - $500
