Description
A superb Maya cylinder vase from the Motagua Valley of Guatemala, c. 400 - 800 AD. This nicely polished blackware example is 6-1/4" high, 4-3/4" in diameter and depicts a series of interwoven serpents, crisply incised into the burnished surface. A highly desirable motif, good mineral deposits and just a few restored breaks. Ex Campos estate. Value range: $2500 - $3500
