Description

A wonderful Moche polychrome canchero from Peru, c. 400 - 700 AD. This highly burnished ceremonial water dipper is 10-1/2" long and has a handle that is decorated with a hawk or eagle holding a serpent. The 6-1/2" diameter chamber is decorated with repetitive geometric designs forming a star symbol. A rare and showy type with good mineral deposits. Ex Shaw collection. Value range: $800 - $1000
