Description
SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur II, 309-379 AD. AR Obol (0.66 gm; 13 mm). Sunrise 850var. Not in Sunrise. obverse, Shapur bust turning right with original symbol removed and re-engraved with 4 dots in front of face within two rings, reverse, fire altar with attendants but no figure in the altar within two rings. Extremely rare type with obverse symbol and multiple ring on both obverse and reverse, superb style, attributed to Persis. Unpublished variety. Lightly toned.
