Description

ARAB-SASANIAN, Khosrau II (590-628 AD). Æ (1.80 gm; 20 mm). Bust of Khosrau turning right, name in the front, typical Sasanian phrase of Apzuti missing, trace of GDH visible, reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint abbreviation seems as ""GL"" or ""BL""(Balkh?)- It is possible to be a phrase such as BARKA as the calligraphy of Arabic letters starts with same style of lettering, date not legible. Extremely rare. Inaccuracy of the details in back portion of crown makes this an Arab Sasanian or local eastern issue. Nice brown reddish patina. Choice aEF. Of highest rarity.
