ABBASID; Al Mansur (Abu Ja‘far ‘Abd Allah, b. Muhammad) (136-158 AH / 754 – 775 AD). Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad), year 147. AR Dirhem (2.86 gm; 22 mm). 2nd Abbasid ruler, standard Abbasid issue on both obverse and reverse, year 147, mint; Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad), Album 213, Tabatabai 113, date of this coin makes it a very early issue from this mint as the construction of Baghdad (areas of the administration and palace) started in 145 AH, were completed by year 146 AD when Al-Mansur moved in (see Yaqut’s Al-Buldan). Choice EF. Lightly toned. Extremely Rare.
