Description

A nice Lambayeque (Sican) avian vessel from Peru, c. 700 – 1300 AD. It is 6-1/2” high, 7-1/4” long and depicts a nicely detailed duck, holding an object or food in its beak. The wings and legs are molded in relief and are painted to set them off from the body. The bridge handle is intact and the hollow head conceals a whistle. Good mineral deposits and clear tone on the whistle. Ex Cruz collection. Value range: $450 - $600
