Description

A nice Union black leather utility belt from the US Civil War, 1859-1864, with nicely embossed rectangular buckle with an eagle standing on a wreath, E PLURIBUS UNUM above. The belt originally was fastened at the waist and also ran over the shoulder, with various clips and fasteners in place. Main waist belt intact with some age cracking and weathering, one of the shoulder straps is fragmentary but they all have the original metal parts. Belt length with buckle about 31”, the shoulder strap roughly 34”. Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value Range $350 - $450.
