Description
Parthian Kingdom. Vardanes I. Ca. A.D. 38-46. AR tetradrachm (29 mm, 14.07 g, 12 h). Seleukeia on the Tigris, September S.E. 353 (September A.D. 42). Diademed bust of Vardanes I left, wearing spiral torque / King enthroned right, receiving palm branch from Tyche standing facing, head left, holding cornucopiae; above, year (ΓNT); in exergue, month (mostly off flan, but seemingly VΠEPBEPETAIOV). Sellwood 64.10(?); Shore - . Minor porosity. Very fine.
