Description
Julia Domna. Augusta, A.D. 193-217. AR denarius (18 mm, 2.70 g, 12 h). Alexandria, under Septimius Severus, A.D. 194. IVLIA DOMNA AVG, draped bust of Julia Domna right / VIRTVS AVG COS II, Roma seated left on shield, holding victory and spear. Cf. RIC 350I for reverse (Septimius). Extremely rare hybrid with a denarius of Septimius Severus, RIC 350. The third known example. Toned with deposits. Very fine.
