Description

CONSTANTINE I. 307-337 AD. Æ Follis (18mm - 2.96 g). Arles mint. Struck 319/20 AD. CONSTAN-TINVS AVG, laureate head right / VICTORIAE LAET PRINC PERP, two Victories holding shield inscribed VOT/PR in two lines over altar decorated with a star; PARL. RIC -. Good VF, brown patina.

From the Victor Clark Collection.

RIC doesn't record any issue of Constantine from this issue, though one should have been anticipated as RIC records issues for Licinius, Crispus and Constantine II from officinas , T and Q respectively. It only makes sense that an issue was struck for Constantine I from officina P. Interestingly this issue features all the rulers with laureate heads, whereas all the previous VLPP issues had helmeted heads.
