Description

An excellent Chimu avian whistle vessel from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. This beautifully detailed double-chamber example is 7” long, 5-3/4” high and features a bird as the front chamber. The wings and legs are molded in high relief and the head has an open beak. A masterful burnishing technique is used to create stripes on the chambers and the whistle hidden inside the hollow head has a clear tone. In excellent condition, with good mineral deposits.
