Clodius Albinus, as Augustus. A.D.195-196. AR Denarius (2.48 g, 18 mm). Lugdunum mint, A.D. late 195-196. IMP CAES D CLO ALBIN AVG, Laureate head right / MIN PAC COS II, Minerva standing left, holding olive branch and resting hand on shield, spear leaning against arm. RIC 30; RSC 51; BMCRE 265A. An exceptional example of this rare type, coins of Clodius Albinus as Augustus are quite scarce. This coin is sharply struck with only the high points showing wear, slightly off center. This coin could be the focal point of any Roman Imperial collection.
