ANTIQUITIES, Peru, Figural Vessel. ca. 400 – 700 AD. An exceptional Moche figural vessel from Peru, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This superb redware vessel is 9” high and portrays an individual wearing a striped mantle and matching headdress, with his coif protruding at the back. His face is decorated with ritual tattoos and has a stern expression. He is adorned with unusual ear ornaments and wide bracelets. In excellent condition, with highly burnished slip, good mineral deposits and trails, as well as an unusual firing cloud at the lower back.
