Lucania, Velia. Ca. 280 B.C. AR nomos (21 mm, 7.22 g, 7 h). Helmeted head of Athena left, helmet decorated with griffin, palmette on neck guard; A before crest, [Φ] below chin, [I]E within linear square behind neck guard / Lion attacking stag left. Williams 560 (O280/R393); HN Italy 1318. Toned. Very fine.
