Description

Sicily, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 B.C. Æ hemilitron (18 mm, 4.75 g). Obverse die possibly signed Euainetos(?). Struck ca. 410-405 B.C. Head of nymph left, wearing necklace, hair in ampyx and sphendone decorated with star; behind, [E](?) / Sixteen-rayed star in center of quadripartite incuse square. CNS 18; SNG ANS 394 (E not noted); HGC 2, 1418. Rough dark green patina. Very fine.
