Lot 215: ANTIQUITIES. A lot of 4 Ancient Lamps, Hellenistic & Roman

A lot of 4 ancient ceramic oil lamps. The first is a Hellenistic type, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, with ovules around the shoulders and a long nozzle with flanged spout, maker’s mark on base. L: 3 3/8” (8.5 cm), intact; the second is a Roman "frog" lamp, c. 3rd - 4th Century AD, with stylized frog device on back, L: 3 3/8” (8.5 cm), intact; the last two are Roman discus lamps, one with an erotic scene involving a man and woman, and the other depicts Perseus holding the head of Medusa, Andromeda standing on a rock beside him, L: 3 ½” (8.9 cm) & 3” (7.6 cm). The first intact with some weathering, the second with losses to the spout. Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value range: $150-$250.
