Description
Lydia, Saïtta. Pseudo-autonomous issue. 2nd century A.D. Æ (19 mm, 3.84 g, 6 h). Bust of Asklepios right; to right, serpent-staff / Artemis standing right, drawing arrow from quiver at shoulder and holding bow; at her feet to right, hound running right. RPC temp. 1408; BMC 13; cf. McClean 8699, pl. 305, 8 (head of Asklepios). Very rare - only four specimens cited in RPC Online, none in the major on-line sales databases. This finer than the illustrated specimen. Brown patina with earthen-green deposits. Very fine.
