Manuel I Comnenus. 1143-1180. EL aspron trachy (29 mm, 4.40 g, 6 h). Constantinople, ca. 1160-1164(?). Barred IC XC across field, Christ Pantokrator standing facing on low daïs, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; in fields flanking, two stars / M-ANVHΛ [O ΘЄOΔ]ωP-OC, Manuel and St. Theodore standing facing, both holding swords and supporting between them a patriarchal cross set on globus. DOC 4b; SB 1959. Free of the usual graffiti. Extremely fine.
