Iron Stirrup. English Viking, X-XI Century AD. Found in the East Riding of Yorkshire along the battle route of the Battle of Stamford Bridge. Iron stirrup with twisted strap-ring and flat foot plate on raised tread. 6” high. Choice for iron. LMMC.23.4 cf also BM Guide Anglo Saxon Antiq. 110 cf. Type used by Vikings and Saxons in 1066.
