Description
Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 B.C. AR tetradrachm (25 mm, 15.98 g, 5 h). Amphipolis, ca. 332-326 B.C. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, bow. Price 48; Troxell issue C6. Reverse slightly double-struck. A little light weight, indicating that the coin may be fourrée. Nearly extremely fine.
