Description

CONSTANTINE I. 307-337 AD. Æ Follis (18mm - 2.72 g). Ticinum mint. Struck 326 AD. CONSTAN-TINVS AVG, laureate head right / D N CONSTANTINI MAX AVG, camp-gate with no doors and two turrets, star above; TcrescentT. RIC VII 198; LRBC 495. VF, unusually silvered flan with some red deposits.

From the Zachary "Beast" Beasley Collection of Camp Gates.

The silvering on this coin is under the deposits and does not look like normal silvering seen on Constantinian folles. It look more like a argenteus flan than a follis flan. Unusual.
