Description

Canaanite Religious Amulet, Early Iron Age. (37.45 g, 3.9 x 2.9 cm). Three bull's heads attached to a globe. Originally, there were bells hanging from the bulls' noses and below the globe. The bells were not found with the amulet when excavated.. Ex Asher Keshet, Ex David Hendin. This Canaanite amulet is in some ways a precursor to the bells worn by the Jewish priests in the Temple of Solomon. The use of such bells was an idea incorporated into Jewish custom from Phoenician and Canaanite culture. VF, missing bells.
