Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (21 mm, 3.81 g, 12 h). Rome, A.D. 239. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / P M TR P II COS P P, Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm. RIC 19; RSC 199. Nice early portrait. Choice very fine.

Ex Guillaumont-Richard (9 April 2016), 186 (part); St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard.

The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
