Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (22 mm, 4.04 g, 1 h). Rome, A.D. 243/4. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / MARS P-ROPVG, Mars advancing right, holding spear and shield. RIC 145; Cohen 155. Good very fine.

Ex Guillaumont-Richard (9 April 2016), 171 (part); St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard.

The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
