Roman. Carnelian intaglio depicting Mars. 1st-3rd centuries A.D. Engraved figure of Mars advancing left, wearing a crested helmet, holding a a trophy over his shoulder and a spear. Dimensions: 8.5 x 13 x 3 mm. Two insignificant wear chips on edge and a few hairline cracks within causing an occluded area in the field. Otherwise very nice and clear with a light rose-golden coloration.
