Roman. Carnelian intaglio depicting Ceres. 1st-3rd centuries A.D. Engraved bust of Ceres (Demeter) left, wreathed with grain ears and wearing a peplos, a small branch before her. Dimensions: 9 x 13.5 x 3.5 mm. Just a hint of wear and a few earthen deposits. Some occlusions not really noticeable from the gem''s face, the color is deep and rich.
