Anglo-Saxon. Eadgar. 959-975. AR penny (21 mm, 1.23 g, 5 h). Two Line (Horizontal Trefoil [HT 1] type (BMC i). York. Aesculf, moneyer. + EAD+GAR REX, small cross pattée / ÆSCV/LM MO in two lines; trefoil above and below, three crosses between. CTCE 77; SCBI 2 (Hunterian), 679 var. (no cross in obverse legend, same rev. die); SCBI 6 (Edinburgh) 366 (same dies); BMC 65; North; SCBC 1129. Well struck and nice metal. Toned. Good very fine.
