Description

Hulagu (654-663H = 1256-1265). Dirham, (2.56gm, 26mm) Mint: al-Jazira-?, AH 66(?). Reference: Album #2122.2, Diler H-27. Very Fine and Rare. Notes: Hulagu was the founder of the Ilkhanid, The Mongols of Persia. He is credited with the take over of Baghdad in February 10, 1258 by killing the last Abbasid Caliph, al-Musta'sim. His coins were struck posthumously in various places until AH 679.
