Description

SAFAVID: SULAYMAN I (AH 1079-1105) SILVER 10 shahi (2.5 ABBASI), Isfahan mint, DATED AH 1094. (17.59gm, 41mm) About the King: This King came to power after the death of his father Abbas II and named himself as Safi II in AH 1077, but after two years, he thought that his choice of the name and the day of his coronation had to do with famine and diseases striking the country. So on the advice of his grand vizier, he changed his name to Sulayman and enthroned himself again in AH 1079! His coins as Safi II are much rarer than Sulayman. Very Fine and very Rare.
