Description
CONSTANTINE I. 307-337 AD. Æ Follis (19mm - 3.14 g). Ticinum mint. Struck 325 AD. CONSTAN-TINVS AVG, laureate head right / D N CONSTANTINI MAX AVG, camp-gate with no doors and two turrets, star above; ST. RIC VII -; LRBC -. Good VF, brown patina with some silvering, rough surfaces.
From the Zachary "Beast" Beasley Collection of Camp Gates.
RIC doesn't record a camp-gate issue for Constantine I without either the palm or crescent in the mint mark. There is a wide space between the two letters in the mint mark, perhaps suggesting one of the marks was just accidentally forgotten.
